If you want real bass in a pickup or Jeep without replacing the factory screen, Metra’s latest SEMA announcement is worth a look. The installation-parts giant has launched Sound Stage, a new name for its vehicle-specific audio kits, along with four new subwoofer power packs that bundle the amp, wiring and factory-radio interface for popular truck and SUV platforms.
- Sound Stage is Metra’s new brand for its plug-and-play vehicle audio kits, which keep the factory head unit.
- New kits cover the 2021–2024 Ford Bronco (including B&O and Raptor) and the 2019–2026 Silverado/Sierra Crew Cab.
- Four new subwoofer power packs cover Ford, GM, Stellantis (Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep) and Toyota/Scion/Subaru.
- Each pack includes a 650 W mono amp, a 4-gauge wiring kit and the right factory-radio interface; you choose the sub and box.
The subwoofer power packs
These are the part most readers will care about. Each pack includes a VIBE Audio PB650.1D-V4 mono amplifier (up to 650 W at 1 ohm), a Raptor 4-gauge amp wiring kit and an Axxess interface matched to the vehicle. You pair it with a sub and either a vehicle-specific or universal enclosure. Metra says all four packs should be shipping by the start of SEMA (3 November).
| Pack | Vehicles | Factory system | Interface |
|---|---|---|---|
| CDJ-SUB-KT1 | Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep 2007–2025 | Amplified and non-amplified | Axxess AXSUB + T-harness |
| FD-SUB-KT1 | Ford 2006–2025 | Non-amplified | Axxess AXSUB + T-harness |
| GM-SUB-KT1 | Chevrolet and GMC 2019–2026 | Amplified and non-amplified | Axxess AXSUB + T-harness |
| TY-SUB-KT1 | Toyota, Scion, Subaru 1987–2023 | Non-amplified | Axxess AXLOC |
The AXSUB interface provides a non-fading sub signal, remote turn-on, a fixed low-pass and a bass knob, which solves the most common headache when adding a sub to a factory stereo. Check exact fitment by model and year before ordering; “2007–2025” coverage won’t include every trim.
Full Sound Stage kits and VIBE parts
The complete Sound Stage kits go further, combining VIBE Audio amps and speakers, vehicle-specific DSP tuning and a sub in a fitted enclosure. New this season are kits for the 2021–2024 Ford Bronco (non-amplified, B&O and Raptor B&O versions) and the 2019–2026 Silverado/Sierra Crew Cab without a factory amp; existing kits for the Wrangler, Gladiator, F-150, Tacoma and Bose-equipped GM trucks carry over under the new name. Metra also lists OEM-fit sub enclosures for the Silverado/Sierra, Gladiator, F-150 SuperCrew and Tacoma Double Cab, plus 10- and 12-inch shallow VIBE subs. Prices weren’t included in the announcement.
What it means for you
- Keeping your factory screen? A power pack is one of the simplest ways to add a sub properly. Our guide to adding a sub to a factory stereo explains the options.
- Tight on space? Trucks usually need a shallow sub. See our 12-inch and 10-inch shallow-mount picks.
- Building your own box? Our sub box designer sizes an enclosure for your space.
- Power check: the included 4-gauge kit suits a 650 W amp; our wire gauge calculator confirms it for your run length.
Our take
Metra’s strength has always been integration, and bundling the amp, wiring and interface by vehicle takes the guesswork out of the trickiest part of a sub install. We’d like to see prices before calling them good value, but for truck owners who want to keep the factory head unit, these packs look like a sensible shortcut.
